Sequencing Project Scientist
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a Sequencing Project Scientist to join the Science Operations Programme. The core Sequencing group at the [Employer hidden] is headed by Dave Baker and supports all sequencing activities. Salary: £26,600 to £32,800 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. Contract: Full time, 3 years.
The role
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art DNA Sequencing technologies supporting [Employer hidden] core Sequencing researching gut health, microbes and food safety. They will assist core DNA sequencing by undertaking library preparation for sequencing of individual bacteria as well as for metagenomics of complex microbial communities.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level and have knowledge of high throughput PCR set-up or equivalent. They will also have experience of DNA and RNA handling, the ability to independently carry out laboratory work and excellent time management and organisational skills.

Salary on appointment will be within the range £26,600 to £32,800 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 3 years with possibility for extension. The [Employer hidden] is a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to understanding how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease. Its mission is to deliver healthier lives through innovation in gut health, microbiology and food. A partnership between [Employer hidden] Bioscience, the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and BBSRC, it brings together scientists and clinicians in a state-of-the-art building on the Norwich Research Park.
