Group Leader (Microbes and Food Safety)

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a dynamic, proactive individual to lead a research programme contributing to reducing foodborne illness through improved food safety and reducing food waste due to microbial spoilage.

About the Role

The post holder will join a vibrant cohort of world class scientists who collectively contribute to achieving the strategic aims of the Microbes and Food Safety research programme. Priorities include understanding and developing interventions to reduce enduring and emerging threats to food safety and security. Our team has expertise in imaging, microbiology, genomics, bioinformatics and mathematical modelling.

Key Areas of Interest

  • Microbial imaging: championing advanced microbial bioimaging / super-resolution microscopy
  • Multi 'omics data integration and analysis: developing cutting-edge informatics tools (machine learning, AI) for large-scale datasets
  • Molecular biology/pathobiology of key foodborne pathogen or food spoilage microbes

About the Institute

[Employer hidden] is a state-of-the-art facility based in Norwich undertaking research on foodborne pathogens and spoilage organisms. The institute provides custom-built facilities bringing together medical and molecular microbiologists, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians and clinicians. Co-located on the Norwich Research Park with partners including the University of East Anglia, John Innes Centre, Sainsbury Laboratory, and Earlham Institute.
