Research Scientist
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is looking for a Research Scientist to join a project investigating the association of Salmonella with Protists in wastewater. Salary: £33,050 to £40,750 per annum. Full-time, 2 years contract.
The role
The successful applicant will work within an interdisciplinary team of computational, molecular and statistician scientists. The project will build on a phase I BMGF Grand Challenges Explorations project where you will employ experimental studies to test whether Salmonella is associated with specific protist species in the aquatic environment. The project involves travel to Zimbabwe for knowledge exchange and training. [Employer hidden] provides a vibrant setting with multiple research teams working on microbial genomics, molecular epidemiology, microbial communities, and food science. You will gain experience in molecular biology, microbiology, data analysis, microscopy and project management.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Microbiology or a related discipline with a background in molecular microbiology, microscopy or related areas. Training in bioinformatics/data science and microscopy as needed. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Salary on appointment will be within the range £33,050 to £40,750 per annum. Full-time post for 24 months.
