Job Description
[Employer hidden] is seeking a Microbiome Technician to join the Gut Microbes and Health Programme, based in Norwich, UK.
You will join a technical support team and be responsible for collection, cataloguing, storage and processing of human samples (blood, stool, urine, swabs, breast milk etc.) from participants recruited to two longitudinal studies running at the Quadram Institute.
Processing will include DNA extraction, bacterial isolation, flow cytometry, tissue culture. You will be key to ensuring the laboratory support provided to these studies operates safely and efficiently by maintaining stock control, running quality control and assurance procedures and following local health and safety policies.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in project management, team working and public engagement. You will support world leading scientists who are experts in their field.
Ideal Candidate
- At least three A Level passes, or equivalent, as well as GCSEs in Maths, English and Science.
- A scientific degree would be highly desirable.
- Recent experience in a biological research setting or clinical laboratory is essential.
- Microbiology expertise is essential.
Additional Information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £24,815 to £30,270 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a fulltime contract for a period of 29 months.
