Laboratory Manager
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a Laboratory Manager to provide high-standard technical support.
The role
The post holder will maintain working areas following protocols and good laboratory practice and support our busy and diverse research laboratories. They will be the primary point of contact for all aspects of laboratory and office operation: space allocation, cleaning, equipment maintenance, refurbishment and repair, waste management, and stores. The Laboratory Manager will develop and manage the laboratory budget, hire, train, and supervise laboratory staff, and ensure the laboratory complies with all relevant safety regulations and standards. The successful candidate will develop and maintain an emergency response plan for the laboratories, implement quality control measures to ensure the reliability and accuracy of experimental results and conduct regular audits and reviews of laboratory practices.
The ideal candidate
Candidates should have a degree or HNC in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or related discipline with previous experience of working in a multiuser biological research laboratory and experience with quality control and health and safety. The ideal candidate will be organised, show attention to detail and be able to work independently but with excellent team working and communication skills.
Additional information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £44,500 to £49,300 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post offered on an indefinite basis. The [Employer hidden] is a new interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to understanding how food and microbes interact to promote health and prevent disease. Its mission is to deliver healthier lives through innovation in gut health, microbiology and food.
