About the Role
Applications are invited for two Research Assistants to join the Microbes in the Food Chain Programme at [Employer hidden] (QIB), based in Norwich, UK. The programme explores the diversity of pathogenic bacteria in the food chain and aims to improve understanding of how these pathogens survive and pose a food safety threat. Work will focus on Campylobacter, Salmonella, E. coli and Listeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Phenotyping of isolates for antimicrobial resistance
- Laboratory evolution experiments
- Genome sequencing and microscopy
- Understanding microbial survival in the food chain
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in a relevant subject
- Experience in handling pathogenic microorganisms and extracting nucleic acids
- Desirable: experience with biofilms and microscopy
