Background
[Employer hidden] is the commercial subsidiary of Quadram Institute Bioscience and carries out bespoke research for food, health and allied industries. [Employer hidden] Ltd is based in the new Quadram Institute.
[Employer hidden] offers a rapid confidential service that can take the form of short-term contract research, consultancies or large applied research projects. We use our expertise and equipment to solve problems for our customers. Most of our work is in the form of short research projects or consultancies.
Facilities include state of the art analytical equipment and level 2 and 3 containment laboratories that are found within our high-level research environment.
The Role
The [Employer hidden] Head of Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management of [Employer hidden] Ltd and co-ordinates and manages the scientific teams delivering projects for customers.
A key leadership role with the Quadram Institute Bioscience’s commercial subsidiary, the Head of Operation’s role is focused on enabling and ensuring [Employer hidden] Ltd’s scientific consultancy and applied research business can win and deliver complex customer and business focused projects.
Supporting the identification and evaluation of opportunities for the development of novel research into problem solving and investigation of food and health related issues. Utilising the organisation’s existing expertise in microbiology, the microbiome, model intestinal systems, authenticity and food innovation, the post holder will work closely with scientists to exploit the full range of expertise and resources of the Quadram Institute.
The Ideal Candidate
The Head of Operations should have project management skills, budget management skills and experience, and successful delivery of a service maximising commercial income. Knowledge of the application of quality assurance systems, e.g. ISO9001 is desirable.
The ideal candidate will also have experience of scientific contract research and commercial development in a scientific or academic environment.
