The Role
The successful candidate will join the laboratory of Professor Cynthia Whitchurch, part of the Microbes in the Food Chain Programme at [Employer hidden]. Responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day lab management, including supervision and training of staff, students and visitors
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures related to laboratory research protocols and data management
- Assist with preparation of ethics and bio safety approvals
- Identify, plan, carry out and modify experiments to meet project objectives
The Ideal Candidate
Candidates should possess a PhD in microbiology or immunology; qualifications in Innovation, Business or Entrepreneurship would be advantageous. In-depth knowledge of bacterial virulence strategies and immune responses is essential, as is skills in microscopy of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Candidates should have significant experience working as a postdoctoral scientist with human pathogenic bacteria and genetically modified organisms. Experience running a large laboratory with multiple regulatory requirements is essential.
Additional Information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £39,150 to £47,850 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is a fulltime contract for a period of 5 years.
