Research Scientist (Molecular basis of Listeria survival and metabolism)

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is hiring a Research Scientist to join their team in Norwich, UK. This is a full-time, 3-year contract position with a salary range of £31,625 - £38,575 per annum.

The Role

The successful applicant will work within an interdisciplinary team of scientists engaged in the investigation of the molecular basis of Listeria monocytogenes survival and metabolism. The aim is to study the functional genomics and transcriptional response of Listeria to environmental stress that enables persistence. Population genomics, functional genomics, and gene expression approaches will be used to identify genomics signatures that lead to persistence and increased risk to assist in the development of diagnostics and interventions aimed at eradicating the pathogen from food and the environment.

You will work closely with bioinformaticians and molecular biologists to deliver multidisciplinary science. This role is an exciting opportunity for training and career development.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular microbiology – genetics and genomics, with a PhD in the subject, or related discipline. Experience of Listeria genetics or bioinformatics is highly desirable. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as engagement with scientists in related projects throughout the Institute and beyond is an important feature of the role.

Additional Information

Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a fulltime post for a period of 3 years.
