The Role

Join a project investigating the human intestinal microbiome and the role that bacterial microvesicles play in microbe-microbe and microbe-host interactions in establishing and maintaining gut health throughout the life course. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and execution of experiments utilising methods and protocols for microvesicle isolation and characterisation. They will also investigate the molecular mechanisms regulating their production by key members of the intestinal microbiota. This role is based at the [Employer hidden]; the post-holder may be required to visit the University of Kent to acquire relevant skills and develop protocols for intracellular microvesicle characterisation.

The Ideal Candidate

Candidates should possess a PhD in biological sciences or microbiology, or related subject. It is essential that candidates have experience or knowledge of the latest techniques and experimental systems for studying human commensal bacteria. A good record of first author publications in high quality peer reviewed journals is also important.

Additional Information

Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is a fulltime role for a period of 40 months.
