About the Role
Applications are invited for a Research Scientist to join the Gut Systems Biology group of Dr Tamas Korcsmaros in the Gut Microbes and Health Programme at [Employer hidden] (QIB), based in Norwich, UK. The Research Scientist will work on network and systems biology related projects focusing on gut homeostasis, intestinal host-microbiome interactions, autophagy and signalling networks as well as data integration from various omic sources to develop new models and in silico predictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in studying integrative and systems-level problems
- Contribute to supervising students
- Contribute to grant and manuscript writing
- Have an active role in building new projects within the Gut Microbes and Health Programme
- Learn novel techniques and data management technologies
Ideal Candidate
- PhD related to Computer Science, Microbiology, Gut Biology or Computational Biology
- Expertise in systems biology and network modelling
- Knowledge of working with R or Julia or similar data science-oriented script languages
- Experience in git and version/source control systems
- Knowledge of working in a Linux environment (local and remote)
- Skills in HPC (slurm) and Python
Additional Information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £31,625 to £38,575 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a fulltime post for a contract of 30 months.
