Background
The Food Databanks National Capability (FDNC) at the [Employer hidden] (QIB) generates, uses and provides data on the composition of foods eaten in the UK which underpins food, nutrition, health research and policy. FDNC is vital for UK public health with respect to understanding the patterns and trends in food composition and consumption, their effects on health as well as in the development of healthier food products. FDNC provides new and updated data and knowledge, helping stakeholders extract maximum value from the data. We work with the food industry, particularly SMEs, on training, data and support for reformulation, nutrition and health claims.
The Role
Applications are invited for a project scientist to work in the Food Databanks National Capability on an EU funded project to deliver a digital platform as a supporting basis for creating and delivering personalised nutrition services in Europe. The main duties will include supporting business development and governance of the platform, establishing scientific advisory principles, contributing to the development of datasets and knowledge rules, supporting project dissemination, organising reporting and project meetings.
The Ideal Candidate
- Background in food, nutrition and health research
- Project management experience, ideally via EU collaborative projects
- PhD or equivalent in nutrition or food science, or a related field
- Outstanding personal initiative and communication skills
Additional Information
Salary on appointment will be within the range £39,150 to £47,850 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is for a contract of 12 months.
