Institute Strategic Programme Manager
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] currently has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team as Institute Strategic Programme Manager.
Background
Microbes in the food chain are a major global challenge to human health and the economy, through foodborne infections and through their contribution to the problem of antimicrobial resistance.
[Employer hidden] (QIB), based within the new Quadram Institute opening in Summer 2018, is looking to reduce the problems caused by microbes in the food chain by delivering an enhanced understanding of the ecology, evolution and survival strategies of pathogens in the food chain, including the drivers of antimicrobial resistance, to improve human health.
Working in partnership with other BBSRC-supported institutes, we will harness the latest genomic technologies to track the emergence, evolution and spread of foodborne pathogens in the food chain.
The Role
QIB wishes to appoint a part-time Manager (22.5 hours per week) for its Institute Strategic Research Programme (ISP) “Microbes in the Food Chain”. The post-holder will work closely with the ISP Leader, Professor John Wain to monitor the delivery of the ISP’s research objectives according to deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of ISP Research Leaders based within the QIB and outside the institute at other institutes and universities. The role will include monitoring progress and overseeing quality control throughout its life cycle. There are two other ISPs in QIB and each has its own Programme Manager. Managers are expected to coordinate work and share best-practice.
The ISP comprises about 10 Research Leaders and their groups (some to be appointed) based within the institute itself. There are close links to some group leaders based at institutes and universities across the UK. Some travel to partner organisations may be required.

- Biological sciences background with experience of project or programme-level management.
