At [Employer hidden], we’re building something special. We’re a not‑for‑personal‑profit social enterprise committed to providing exceptional early years education while investing directly back into the communities we serve. Our nurseries are warm, homely spaces rooted in child‑led learning, curiosity, and connection, places where little learners flourish and where dedicated practitioners feel valued, supported, and proud of the impact they make. As we enter our next phase of growth, we’re strengthening our Board with an experienced and values‑driven Non‑Executive Director who shares our belief in the power of early years education to shape brighter futures.

The role

As a Non‑Executive Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of [Employer hidden], bringing guidance, challenge, and insight to ensure we continue delivering excellent early years education with strong community impact. You’ll work alongside fellow Directors to safeguard our mission, champion quality, and support the senior leadership team as we grow sustainably.

You’ll help us:

  • Set and review our strategic aims and long‑term objectives
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and frameworks
  • Approve budgets, monitor financial performance, and uphold financial sustainability
  • Safeguard the organisation’s assets and oversee risk management
  • Monitor performance against KPIs and strategic goals
  • Build relationships with partners, funders, regulators, and community stakeholders
  • Support positive, inclusive organisational culture across all settings
  • Contribute to leadership recruitment, succession planning, and performance review
  • Champion [Employer hidden]’s mission and act as an ambassador for our work

Who we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who cares deeply about children’s futures, believes in community‑rooted early years provision, and has the professional experience to help us grow confidently and responsibly.

You’ll bring:

  • Recent senior leadership experience in early years
  • Strong strategic and operational experience across multiple nursery sites
  • Knowledge of EYFS, Ofsted frameworks, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement
  • Experience working with or alongside local authorities or as an early years education/quality lead
  • A thoughtful, values‑aligned approach to governance and decision‑making
  • A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
  • (Even better) A Level 5+ early years qualification (e.g., EYITT, QTS with early years specialism, BA/Early Childhood studies)

Read our Role Overview with personal specification here for more information.

Why Join Us?

You’ll help guide a growing social enterprise that’s genuinely committed to: high‑quality early years education, strong community impact, reinvesting in people and places, building settings where children, families and educators thrive. You’ll join a passionate, warm, mission‑led team determined to create something exceptional for Bristol’s children and communities.
