Experienced/Senior Online Developer - Tech Team at [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]

[Employer hidden] is seeking an experienced back-end Online Developer to join its tech team, building and supporting web APIs for their game engine. Hybrid role based in Oxford or Warwick, UK.

Key Outcomes

  • Produce performant and well-documented code
  • Successfully develop and deploy new tools to support our game teams
  • Respond to bugs and issues as they arise, providing timely resolution

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deploy web applications to support our in-house engine team
  • Maintain and improve existing tools
  • Develop integrations with third-party APIs
  • Support application deployments
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other teams
  • Contribute to improving development practices within a growing team

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a back-end developer
  • Experience working within the games industry
  • Strong experience with Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Knowledge of front-end frameworks such as Vue and React
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with AWS or equivalent cloud environments
  • Experience with software development tools and version control systems (Git; Perforce desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Comfortable modifying/maintaining applications written in other languages (such as PHP) is desirable
  • Experience writing serverless functions (AWS Lambda/Azure Functions) is a bonus
