Laboratory Technician (In Education)

About the Role

  • Maintain delivery of technical services: prepare, set up, and test materials and equipment; provide technical advice; assist with maintenance and repairs; secure laboratories and stores.
  • Assist teaching staff: order consumables, review experiment protocols, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations (COSHH, HSWA, etc.).
  • Manage budget for consumables in consultation with Head of Science and Centre Director.
  • Participate in professional development and perform other duties as required.

About You

  • BTEC Higher Certificate, Advanced City and Guilds, HNC/HND, BSc/BEng or equivalent.
  • Experience providing technical laboratory or admin support in an educational setting.
  • Desirable: experience advising on experiments and curriculum development.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of science subjects, materials, apparatus, and health & safety regulations.
  • Proven IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility, team player, ability to work under pressure.
