About the Role
As an Activities Coordinator, you will organise and deliver a varied programme of meaningful activities that support residents’ physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Many residents live with dementia, so activities must be engaging, inclusive, and adapted to individual abilities and interests.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering daily activities and events that are stimulating and enjoyable.
- Organising group activities, entertainment, and seasonal events within the home.
- Arranging community engagement and outings where appropriate.
- Encouraging resident participation in activities that support wellbeing and independence.
- Building positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Supporting residents with emotional wellbeing and companionship.
- Maintaining records of activities and resident participation.
- Working collaboratively with the care team to ensure person-centred and inclusive activities.
About You
We are looking for someone enthusiastic, caring, and creative, with a genuine interest in improving quality of life for older people. You will have:
- A positive and engaging personality.
- Creativity and ability to organise enjoyable activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with older people, including those with dementia.
- Ability to motivate and encourage resident participation.
Previous experience in activities coordination or a care environment is desirable but not essential - training provided.
Requirements
- Experience in a care home or similar environment desirable.
- Passion for supporting wellbeing of elderly residents.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible, committed to high standards.
- Must have legal right to work in the UK.
Qualifications
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Previous experience in activity coordination or recreational programmes desirable.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping.
