Paralegal
Permanent, full-time - 37.5 hours per week, flexible between 9am-6pm Monday to Friday.
Job Description
To provide assistance to the Pro Bono team. The Pro Bono department works alongside the Injury departments to provide free legal services to those with serious injury.
Standard Pro Bono Paralegal Duties
- Attends initial meetings with patients
- Has day-to-day oversight of own files
- Produces correspondence
- Undertakes legal research
- Takes instructions from clients
- Drafts witness statements for clients and witnesses in welfare benefits appeals
- Provides representation/advocacy at welfare benefits appeal hearings
- Drafts necessary forms for Court applications (Deputyship Orders, Lasting Powers of Attorney, etc.)
- General administration, filing, supporting internal processes and partners
- Contributes to business development and internal training sessions
- Undertakes other ad hoc duties as required
Job Skills Required
Essential: Fully completed LPC, SQE1 or bar course.
- Excellent typing and IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Understands client needs and displays urgency
- Demonstrates commercial awareness and client relationship building
- Well organised, uses initiative, prioritises, attention to detail
