The Role

We are seeking a motivated mechanically biased Subsea Support Engineer from an industry recognised apprenticeship background, who is currently working in a workshop environment, maintenance, or hands-on technical role and is looking to transition into an onshore, office-based engineering position.

Working within the Subsea Department, you will support offshore drilling rig operations, subsea equipment management, and engineering projects. Support towards further qualifications may be available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support for subsea pressure control equipment and associated systems.
  • Assisting with inspections, maintenance planning, fault-finding, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Supporting offshore rig operations from an onshore engineering office.
  • Assisting with subsea equipment overhaul planning, documentation, and asset management.
  • Supporting the execution of subsea projects, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Liaising with workshops, OEMs, and offshore personnel to resolve equipment and technical issues.
  • Carrying out additional duties as directed by the Subsea Superintendents or Subsea Manager.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed a Mechanical Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a workshop, maintenance, or operational engineering environment.
  • Strong mechanical understanding of equipment, assemblies, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Willingness to develop engineering analysis, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in an office-based role while supporting offshore operations.
  • Interest in progressing towards HND or Degree-level engineering qualifications.

Development & Progression

[Employer hidden] is committed to developing talent and supporting career progression. For the right candidate, this role can offer:

  • Transition from technician/apprentice to engineer
  • On-the-job mentoring from experienced Subsea engineers and superintendents
  • Exposure to offshore drilling rig operations and Subsea systems
  • Potential support for further education, including HND or Degree-level study
  • Long-term career development within the Subsea Department
