Salary Range: $69,850 - $115,279

It is an exciting and empowering time to work at NFPA. NFPA is looking to add a Human Resource Generalist to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the administration of core HR operations, including benefits administration and reconciliation (Health & Welfare benefits, retirement benefits, LOA), vendor management, expense reporting and budget tracking.
  • Supports employee engagement & recognition programs. Reinforces NFPA’s organizational values (Get Connected, Be Curious, Be Bold, Own It) and desired behaviors through these programs and resources.
  • Coordinates employee onboarding and transition activities. Analyzes trends and provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Provides support for recruitment efforts.
  • Provides support for employee relations matters, including coaching and counseling.
  • Provides operational support for the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including multi-state and remote worker requirements, OSHA reporting, I-9/E-Verify, and background checks.
  • Collaborates with the HR team to update and administer HR policies, procedures, and organizational guidelines in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains accurate employee records and HR data; prepares reports, supports audits, and partners with Finance on budgets and audits.
  • Oversees wellness programs and materials to support a healthy and engaged workforce, including but not limited to EAP provider.
  • Serves as a representative in safety related discussions (i.e., emergency preparedness, worker’s compensation reviews, etc.)
  • Stays current on HR best practices, employment legislation, and industry trends; performs special projects and other duties to support the HR Team and NFPA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Business or related field
  • 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, experience supporting a remote workforce is desirable.
  • aPHR or PHR Designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance.
  • Experience with full cycle recruitment
  • Demonstrated capability supporting employee relations matters.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized, with flexibility and creativity to be able to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in managing HRIS/ATS software (i.e. Paylocity)

Final compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including the specific skills, relevant experience, education, and training you bring to the role, as well as internal equity and business needs. For candidates whose qualifications align well with the role’s requirements and expectations, offers are often made toward the minimum of the posted range. Exceptional qualifications or unique circumstances may result in placement higher in the range.
