This is an exciting opportunity to join [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] as a Consultant Respiratory & General Internal Medicine physician with a specialist interest in interstitial lung disease. The role involves inpatient care, outpatient clinics, bronchoscopy, pleural procedures, and participation in MDTs. The successful candidate will be supported in developing the ILD service.
Job Summary
This is a replacement post for a Consultant Respiratory physician with a specialist interest in interstitial lung disease. We take pride in being a very functional and supportive department with a clear vision to provide the best respiratory care possible to our patients.
Main Duties of the Job
- This is a replacement 10 PA post for a Consultant Respiratory physician at [Employer hidden], with a sub-speciality interest in ILD.
- The job will comprise a mixture of inpatient care and outpatient clinics along with day case bronchoscopy and pleural lists.
- Successful applicants will be supported in developing the service according to their experience, in particular, expanding the service with an ILD CNS and involvement with Oxford and the evolving anti-fibrotic service.
About Us
Respiratory Medicine at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading runs out of our own self-contained department. RBH is a cancer centre with a weekly MDT including thoracic radiologists, lung oncologists, pathologists and clinical nurse specialists. We have an inpatient unit with 50 beds, including eight beds within a Respiratory Support Unit.
Person Specification
- Essential: Full registration with the GMC and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom or equivalent
- Essential: Fully trained in Respiratory and GiM with knowledge of all aspects of general respiratory medicine and patient care
- Essential: Experience of working in the NHS at SpR or Consultant level
- Essential: Fully trained in Bronchoscopy, EBUS, and thoracoscopy
- Desirable: Higher degree e.g. PhD/ MD
- Desirable: Independent in USS guided biopsy including pleural and lymph node

Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 a year per annum. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time. Location: Royal Berkshire Hospital, Craven Road, Reading, RG1 5AN.
