The role involves business partnering, project financial management, preparing monthly management packs, managing capital budgets, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with experience in project-led or manufacturing environments.

What’s the Opportunity?
[Employer hidden] is looking to strengthen the finance team with a technically capable, commercially minded Management Accountant. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will have a considerable interaction with the whole business. The Finance team at [Employer hidden] monitors financial performance of circa 100 projects in a typical year. Projects range from £10k to £10m revenue each. The Management Accountant will be the key link between finance and a team of 10 Project Managers. The main purpose of the role will be business partnering, preparation of accurate financial information to assist key decision-makers in steering the business towards continued profitable growth & strengthening internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Partnering - Providing effective business partnering with Projects and Operations Managers. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the financial objectives. Develop reporting to provide timely and value-added information to the business.
- Project Financial Management – Estimating, budgeting and controlling costs & cash flows throughout the project life cycle, with the objective of keeping expenditures within the approved budget. Production of Cost to Complete reports where appropriate. Ensuring that purchase orders are raised timely and correctly. Understanding and owning the profit recognition processes. Ensure that all costs, benefits & cash flows are robustly calculated. Develop and refine a costing model to standardise the way that similar projects are costed & priced.
- Management Pack – compile Monthly Management Pack, providing reliable context and insight for strategic decision making. Review performance versus budget to highlight issues early and suggest corrective action.
- Capex - Successfully managing capital budgets across projects detailing total Capex spend. Develop detailed Capex plans for each project and tracked actuals against the budget to ensure initiatives stayed within the approved limits. Maintain and own the FAR, including calculation of monthly depreciation.
- Processes & Efficiency – Drive a continuous process of improvement by benchmarking performance across the business and identifying areas for savings. Reviewing processes to ensure best practice and efficiency.
- Shared Responsibilities - Whilst not the main duties of this role, we are a small team, & we all pull together to get the job done.
