Head of Equality Diversity and Inclusion

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a Head of Equality Diversity and Inclusion to lead the implementation of their EDI workforce strategy. You will be an exceptional leader with passion, energy and the experience to support our strategic ambitions and help continue to develop a culture of belonging, equity and cultural improvement. Reporting to the Assistant Director of OD, you will be a subject matter expert in EDI and have strong leadership and engagement skills. This is a permanent, part-time role (30 hours per week) based at the hospital in Cambridge.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Director of OD in developing and implementing the Trust's EDI strategies aligned with best practice and NHS People Plan
  • Lead EDI aspects of culture change and transformation initiatives
  • Represent the Trust on EDI matters across the Integrated Care System (ICS)
  • Manage EDI governance frameworks to meet equality objectives and legal obligations
  • Ensure compliance with Equality Act 2010, WRES, WDES, and Accessible Information Standard (AIS)
  • Coordinate annual reporting and conduct audits of organisational processes
  • Assess learning needs and design, develop, and deliver EDI training across the Trust
  • Provide advice and support to managers and staff on EDI compliance
  • Lead formation of EDI-related policies and protocols
  • Conduct robust Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) and train staff on their obligations
  • Coordinate EDI activities and frameworks (WRES, WDES, etc.)
  • Support Staff Network Groups and activities
  • Identify and address EDI needs, gaps, and risks
  • Report on trends and outcomes from EDI data
  • Manage delegated budget for EDI training and workshops
  • Work with Communications Team and other departments on EDI events and activities
  • Represent the Trust at external learning events and conferences
  • Provide expert advice and signposting on EDI matters
  • Facilitate business-wide service planning and information sharing

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Educated to Masters level (in a related subject) or equivalent experience within EDI
  • Demonstrable continued professional development

Experience (Essential)

  • Proficient understanding of the NHS landscape
  • Expert knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion policy, legislation and best practice
  • Experience of conducting, quality assuring and advising on Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs)
  • Experience of implementing EDI initiatives, including frameworks and standards
  • Knowledge of OD methodologies and practices as applied to EDI interventions
  • Experience of developing and delivering EDI training to a wide audience
  • Ability to produce high standard written reports and deliver presentations
  • Computer literacy and excellent keyboard skills
  • Ability to self-motivate, show initiative, and manage workload under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable commitment to quality and putting patients first
  • Values diversity and operates with integrity
  • Proven track record of delivery on objectives

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a Public Sector environment
  • Ability to analyse numerical data
  • Experience of budget management for funding requests
