Job summary
The PH Data Officer will be working within the Pulmonary Hypertension Multidisciplinary team to manage electronic database complete administrative support service to ensure that patients who are cared for on the Pulmonary Hypertension pathways have a high-quality experience. We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills to work as part of a busy team whilst developing their own skillset. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and to prioritise your workload. Working alongside the operational and clinical teams your responsibilities will include providing administrative support for the PVDU MDT as well as inputting and extracting data for the THOR tracking systems for which training and support will be provided.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
- To produce data submissions, these include registrations to the National Audit of Pulmonary Hypertension (NAPH).
- To ensure that all paper and electronic filing systems are kept updated.
- To input and maintain all relevant data onto the PVDU database within specified data files, following set procedures and ensuring and promoting accuracy and data quality at all times, liaising with medical staff as required to discuss data discrepancies. Data includes Pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) information.
- Receive and sort incoming mail (written and electronic) by responding appropriately or forwarding to the appropriate staff member and is dealt with in a timely manner in line with department and Trust guidance.
- Act in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998) and Freedom of Information Act (2000).
- Contribute to the monitoring and achievement of waiting times targets ensuring relevant information is received and recorded.
- To input and maintain data on the Pulmonary Hypertension database (THOR).
- Produce regular reports as requested as distribute as required.
- Check accuracy of reports and complete any missing data items.
- To provide a thorough data verification service raising any data concerns with appropriate clinical personnel.
- Keep accurate and complete records consistent with legislation policies and procedures.

- Numeracy and Literacy
- RSA II/ NVQ III in Administration or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Previous experience of Database entry.

- Previous experience of using Microsoft Office Applications
- The ability to communicate basic or sensitive information to colleagues, patients and relatives.
- The ability to pay close attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage.
- The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality administrative support.
- Able to organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in relation to the priorities of the department on a daily basis.
- The ability to suggest changes to own practice.
- Demonstrates personal duty of care in relation to the safe use of equipment and other resources.
- Maintains the quality in own work.
Desirable
- Previous administration experience.
