Job Description
We are looking for a Young Leaders Developer to lead and support young people (including our Youth Advisory Board) to shape, create and deliver high‑quality programmes of work: ensuring young people play a meaningful, creative and influential role in the strategic direction of the RSC. Our Creative Learning and Engagement work is driven by a commitment to social justice, whether empowering teachers in the classroom or inspiring young people to develop their own creative agency. This role is central in championing youth voice across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the recruitment, development and ongoing engagement of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), including planning and facilitating monthly meetings and residentials in Stratford-upon-Avon.
- Supporting young people to co‑create, develop and deliver public‑facing creative projects in response to the artistic programme.
- Managing creative projects from concept to delivery, including timelines, budgets and cross‑departmental coordination.
- Building strong partnerships across the RSC.
- Facilitating young people's engagement with the First Encounters with Shakespeare touring programme.
- Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding, administration and communication across youth talent and leadership programmes.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
- Skills in developing youth voice and co‑creation methodologies, enabling young people to shape their own creative work.
- Project management experience, including scheduling, budget management and delivery oversight.
- Strong facilitation skills and confidence leading inclusive sessions with diverse groups of young people.
- A strong commitment to access, inclusion and removing barriers to participation in the creative industries.
- A practical understanding of theatre making and creative processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of professional correspondence and inbox management.
- A track record of upholding high safeguarding standards for children, young people and adults at risk.
Additional Information
This is a full‑time, permanent position based in Stratford‑upon‑Avon, with some flexibility for hybrid working. You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday although occasional evening and weekend work will be required. The role sits within the Creative Learning and Engagement department. The RSC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; all employees of the Creative Learning and Engagement team are required to undergo enhanced DBS checks.
