Job Description

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is recruiting a Java/Kotlin Developer for a global banking and financial services organisation. This is a contract role based in Sheffield, inside IR35.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers, testers, and wider stakeholders to build and operate scalable products.
• Design, develop, and implement backend and light frontend features aligned to product backlog priorities.
• Work closely with engineering teams to design and deliver new features.
• Engage directly with users to troubleshoot issues and respond to feature requests.

Required Skills/Experience

• Strong experience in Kotlin, or Java with a willingness to transition to Kotlin.
• Proven experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, particularly Jenkins.
• Background in Systems Administration (Linux, AIX, WAS).
• Exposure to test automation practices.
