As a Finance Analyst, you will be supporting the FP&A teams across our [Employer hidden]’s Insurance Business.

You will be responsible for monthly and weekly reporting into the commercial, insurance underwriting and claims legal entities and will support monthly cash flow reporting and forecasting. You’ll ensure delivery and review of data imports into IBM Cognos TM1.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will possess an inquisitive mind, and be able to identify anomalies or inconsistencies and pursue these through to a resolution

We offer flexibility over where you work – you choose a place where you feel most comfortable and productive, either from home or in one of our hubs in London or Kent. We come together with a purpose to collaborate, typically once a week in Ashford.

Role Responsibility

As a finance analyst, you will be responsible for supporting regular insurance reporting -. Working with stakeholders across the finance team to understand their workloads and pressures, you’ll offer support where required to meet the wider team’s overall goals.

Other accountabilities include:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, KPIs and reports for the Insurance entities including preparation of analysis and commentary in relation to P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, at a level appropriate for the intended audience
  • Support the FP&A Leads with the planning and budgeting cycle for all Insurance entities
  • Ensure accurate data uploads from insurance source policy systems into IBM Cognos TM1 ready for reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly MI reports to the commercial and pricing teams for their onward decision making.
  • System reconciliations
  • Continuous design and improvement of existing financial planning processes to satisfy business requirements and support commercial decision making
  • Support system development, implementation and change to deliver process improvement and enhanced management reporting
  • Documentation of FP&A systems and processes to minimise key person dependencies and enable cross-skilling of the team

The Ideal Candidate

As our new Finance Analyst you will have experience in either finance or data systems, and have a passion for process efficiency, establishing a culture of continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.

Experience in either the Insurance or Financial Services industries would be of advantage. However, we are happy to consider candidates across all sectors.

Skills & Experience required include:

  • Highly focused on presentational skills and visual impact of outputs on stakeholders
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to consider the way stakeholders view the Insurance results and adapt the narrative accordingly
  • Excellent communicator – clear and concise so that senior leaders from both finance and non-finance areas can understand the issues quickly and make appropriate business decisions
  • Excellent time management skills, pro-active approach, and ability to prioritise work effectively
  • IBM Cognos TM1 (or similar) experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • SQL development experience advantageous.
