[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] ([Employer hidden] Group) is recruiting for a specialist Software Defined Network Engineer. Salary £70,000 - £85,000, FTC for 9 months, Hybrid/Homebased. Location: London, United Kingdom. Closing Date: 1 August, 2024.

Job Introduction

Our central technology team here at [Employer hidden] are recruiting for a specialist Software Defined Network Engineer to complement our in-house team on a project delivery piece of work for 9 months. The project is currently at design stage; we need you to fast track the design through to implementation / process phase.

You will be providing technical expertise in the development and design of Software defined networking – NSX-T. Being the reference point to ensure designs meet business needs and delivery of micro segmentation is achieved.

You’ll be working alongside our current network team to deliver the programme of work to timelines, and help protect against cyber risk, ensuring continuity of business services, whilst managing business demands.

We offer flexibility over where you work – you choose a place where you feel most comfortable and productive, either from home or in one of our hubs in London or Kent.

Role Responsibility

  • Design and deploy NSX-T based Software Defined Network infrastructure solutions, including routing and micro segmentation.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and growth of [Employer hidden]'s physical and VMware NSX-T environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the network engineering team.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for network designs, configurations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network services.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and industry best practices related to network virtualization and security.

The Ideal Candidate

You will already be a fully certified VMware professional. Ideally capable to join an established team as the technical expert. You will need to make an instant impact in the project team. We are in the early design phase, we need you to provide a scalable and secure network environment across our large organisation here at [Employer hidden].

You will also need to demonstrate the following skills, experiences and [Employer hidden] Values;

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and contributing to network architecture
  • VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization (VCP-NV) certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience with VMware NSX-T and network virtualization technologies, including the vRealize / Aria suite of tools.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services (e.g., TCP/IP, routing (BGP / OSPF), switching, firewalls).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Management / troubleshooting of Network Infrastructure, security gateways, remote access and cloud technologies plus a broad knowledge of Cyber Security threats and countermeasures.
  • Technical Skills, specifically relating to enterprise LAN/WAN and Cloud technologies

Desirable:

  • Experience with Azure networking, including Azure Express Route / Checkpoint Firewalls / automation tools and scripting languages / Dell PowerConnect / Extreme Networks.
