[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is hiring a Backend Engineer, AI to own the inference and orchestration layer for an AI chat app. This is a full-time, remote position based in London, UK.
About the Role
[Employer hidden]'s A1 team is building a proactive AI chat app. The Backend Engineer will build and operate backend systems serving AI features, design inference pipelines, and own production concerns like monitoring and incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and operate production backend systems for AI-powered features.
- Design inference pipelines, orchestration layers, and service boundaries.
- Own monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response.
- Optimize latency and throughput for caching, batching, and streaming.
Ideal Experience
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals in production environments.
- Experience running high-throughput, low-latency services.
- Familiarity with AI inference patterns (LLMs, embeddings, multimodal).
- Comfortable debugging distributed systems under load.
- Bias toward shipping and learning from production behavior.
