Undergraduate Summer Placement - SUPER DTP

Location: Oban, UK

Salary: £12 per hour (hourly)

Contract Type: Fixed Term (6 weeks), Full Time

The Role

This Internship opportunity will allow an undergraduate student to develop analytical skills in the analysis of long-term passive acoustic data and obtain insights into the challenges of developing robust, universal species-specific classifiers. The position would involve the annotation of minke whale pulse trains using sound analysis software ‘Raven’ to aid in the improvement of the minke whale detector. Additionally, you would partake in the analysis of new minke whale call types and develop their skills in bioacoustics research more generally.

Our Ideal Candidate

All training will be provided, but any experience in microscopy or molecular biology would be desirable. You will have general lab skills, experience of lab book record keeping, and knowledge of health and safety protocols. Experience with report writing and basic data interpretation is desirable.
