Undergraduate Summer Placement - SUPER DTP (D13/24.MD)
Location: SAMS, Oban
Contract Type: Fixed Term (6 weeks)
Working Pattern: Full Time
Rate of Pay: £12 per hour
Closing date: 12pm on 12th July 2024
Start date: 1st or 14th August 2024
The Role
This Internship opportunity will allow an undergraduate student to develop analytical skills in the analysis of photosynthetic traits in Antarctic snow algae. The objective of this project is to complete an assessment of the photosynthetic parameters of isolated Antarctic snow algae. We are interested in assessing key photosynthetic parameters of our isolated snow algae, such as Fv/Fm, PsiPSII, NPQ and light response curves at a number of growth temperatures. You will also assess the cells using light and fluorescent microscopy.
Our Ideal Candidate
All training will be provided, but any experience in microscopy or microbiology would be desirable. You will have general lab skills, experience of lab book record keeping, and knowledge of health and safety protocols. Experience with report writing and basic data interpretation is desirable.
