Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Blue Carbon / Coastal Restoration (D02/23.MS)
Location: SAMS, Oban
Contract Type: Open-ended
Working Pattern: Full Time (37hrs per week)
Salary Range: Grade 7/8. Lecturer G7 - £42,155 - £47,423 per annum. Senior Lecturer G8 - £51,805 - £58,284 per annum.

The Role
You will be a key player in driving forward SAMS programme of discovery and applied research in the area of coastal carbon sequestration and/or coastal restoration / 'sea-wilding'; ideally with an interest in 'seascape connectivity' as part of the Blue Growth and Dynamic Coasts Research Areas at SAMS.
The expectation is that the post holder will develop a research portfolio that includes significant support from non-traditional sources - including NGOs, Trusts, Foundations etc.- to deliver targeted applied research.
You will mainly work closely with SAMS Enterprise and the Development team to provide leadership and delivery of commercial and philanthropic projects. You will be expected to contribute to SAMS programme of education at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
Working with Enterprise and fellow researchers, you will use your experience in the design and application of laboratory/field experimentation to deliver commissioned projects, reports and papers to defined timescales and budgets. Projects may vary in scale and scope from Government/NGO policy development, delivering reports and programmes for commercial clients to community projects.
Our Ideal Candidate
You will have a PhD in a relevant marine / environmental science discipline as well as experience of operating in a more independent role as a lecturer/senior lecturer in at least one of the following areas: blue carbon sequestration, coastal restoration, anthropogenic impacts on the coastal zone and/or ecosystem services valuation.
Experience in, or understanding of, numerical modelling is also desirable.
Evidence of track record of research, commercial and some non-traditional income streams.
