The Vacancy

This is a rare opportunity to shape something from the ground up. As our first-ever Head of Philanthropy, you’ll play a pivotal role in building a sustainable, ambitious fundraising programme that will help grow rugby in communities across Scotland – from grassroots to life‑changing social impact. You’ll bring people together around a compelling cause, inspire investment in the future of the game through a newly established [Employer hidden] Foundation, and help ensure rugby’s positive impact reaches far beyond the pitch.

What the role is about

  • Creating and leading the philanthropic strategy, turning big ambition into real-world impact
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with major donors, partners and supporters in Scotland and internationally
  • Securing significant gifts to support community rugby, inclusion, health and wellbeing programmes
  • Shaping powerful cases for support and clearly demonstrating the impact of donors’ contributions
  • Working closely with Trustees and senior colleagues to ensure strong governance and transparent reporting
  • Representing [Employer hidden] at key events, helping to raise our profile and inspire new supporters

What we’re looking for

  • Senior-level experience in philanthropy, fundraising or major gifts, with a strong track record of success
  • Confidence working with Trustees, Boards or senior stakeholders, including reporting and presenting
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the credibility to engage high-net-worth individuals and partners
  • Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on approach – you’re comfortable building things from scratch
  • A passion for community impact; experience in sport, education, health or the charity sector is a strong advantage

This is more than a fundraising role. It’s a chance to help shape the future of rugby in Scotland, strengthen communities, and leave a lasting legacy through the power of philanthropy.

The Benefits

  • Enhanced pension scheme
  • Hybrid working
  • Electric car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Access to Tickets - rugby and concerts
  • Employee discounts
  • Wellbeing
