[Employer hidden] is hiring a Development Officer. Location: Dundee. Salary: £28,000 - £32,000. Full-time, fixed-term to June 2028.
Purpose of the Role
The [Employer hidden] Development Officer will design, deliver, and sustain a thriving schools and community rugby programme across Dundee, with a particular focus on Morgan Academy and Greenfield Academy and their associated primary school clusters. Through targeted youth, school, and community-based initiatives, the postholder will grow participation in both boys’ and girls’ rugby, strengthen pathways from school into club rugby, and support the long-term development of an inclusive, vibrant rugby environment at the heart of the local community. Rugby will be used as a vehicle for positive change, supporting young people to develop sporting ability, personal confidence, resilience, leadership, and lifelong engagement in physical activity.
Key Aims of the Programme
- Increase weekly access to rugby across Morgan Academy, Greenfield Academy, and feeder primaries
- Engage targeted young people in small-group, rugby-based resilience and wellbeing sessions
- Improve pupils’ attendance, focus, engagement, and relationships through sport
- Create a clear and visible pathway from P5 through to S4 and into community rugby
- Support young people at risk of disengagement from education or physical activity
- Deliver community festivals, family-inclusive rugby events, and celebration days
- Develop a sustainable and scalable model that can be replicated across other Dundee school clusters
The Role and Responsibilities
Embedded within the Dundee community, the [Employer hidden] Development Officer will work primarily across the two priority secondary schools and their associated primary clusters.
School & Community Delivery
- Deliver weekly coaching blocks (4–6 weeks) in local primary schools (P5–P7)
- Lead and support Schools of Rugby programmes at Morgan Academy and Greenfield Academy
- Deliver after-school clubs, lunchtime sessions, and holiday programmes in partnership with Active Schools
Player & Pathway Development
- Strengthen links between schools and Dundee RFC to ensure clear progression pathways
- Mentor pupil leaders, senior helpers, and young coaches within schools and the club
- Support transition points from primary to secondary and from school to club rugby
Key Accountabilities
- Increasing participation among boys and girls across schools and Dundee RFC
- Supporting the design and delivery of the Dundee RFC Club Development Plan
- Supporting the growth of the Women & Girls (W&G) pathway at U12, U14, U16, and U18
- Coordinating opportunities for coach development in partnership with Scottish Rugby
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of festivals, events, and holiday programmes
- Maintaining strong partnerships to ensure effective talent and participation pathways
