[Employer hidden] is seeking a Mechanical Technician for a 6-month contract with a large Oil & Gas operator at an onshore gas terminal in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. This is a temporary, full-time position on a 7/7 rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Undertakes routine engineering maintenance and defect repair tasks to ensure reliability and availability of plant and equipment.
  • Executes routine and non-routine maintenance activities in accordance with procedures and operational requirements.
  • Investigates complex technical problems and returns plant to normal operation.
  • Prepares technical reports and maintains records.
  • Carries out commissioning and decommissioning activities.
  • Contributes to design and commissioning of plant modifications.
  • Supervises staff and contractors.
  • Ensures safe working practices and permitry are in place.

Requirements

  • BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent in engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process operations or maintenance.
  • Sound understanding of engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out duties of Level 3 Crane Driver.
  • Trained in firefighting, self-contained breath apparatus, coxswain, first aid for Emergency Response Team.
