Job Description

Working at the centre of a global communications function, this role is focused on elevating the practice’s public profile through strategic storytelling, media engagement, and high-quality press coverage. You will play a key role in promoting landmark projects, building relationships with journalists, and ensuring the studio’s work is consistently represented across leading industry and mainstream media outlets.

This is a hands-on, content-led role suited to someone who thrives on shaping narratives, managing press relationships, and positioning design work within broader cultural and industry conversations.

The Communications Specialist will lead on the development and delivery of external communications, translating project stories and strategic priorities into compelling editorial content and press opportunities. You will work closely with senior leadership, design teams, and external media to ensure strong, consistent visibility across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead proactive media relations, building and maintaining a strong network of contacts across architecture, design, and mainstream press
  • Identify and secure press opportunities to promote projects, studio news, and thought leadership
  • Write and edit press releases, media pitches, articles, and thought leadership pieces
  • Manage press coverage, monitor media performance, and report on reach and impact
  • Act as a key point of contact for media enquiries and interview coordination
  • Develop compelling narratives around projects, ensuring they are positioned effectively for external audiences
  • Collaborate with project teams and senior leaders to extract stories and define key messages
  • Support project launches, announcements, and events with targeted press strategies
  • Oversee content for external communications channels including website and social platforms, with a focus on storytelling and visibility
  • Ensure consistency of tone, messaging, and brand voice across all external communications
  • Track industry trends and media opportunities within architecture, design, and the built environment

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, PR, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications, PR, or press-focused roles within architecture, design, or the built environment
  • Strong existing network of media contacts across relevant press (architecture, design, property, and national media)
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Proven experience securing media coverage and managing press relationships
  • Strong understanding of how to position projects and narratives for different audiences
  • Confident communicator, able to work closely with senior stakeholders and external media
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience with digital platforms, CMS, and social media channels
