Job Description

We’re partnering with a leading, award-winning architectural and building consultancy to find a talented Senior Architect to join their creative Manchester-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a collaborative, people-focused environment where innovation and quality are highly valued.

You’ll be working on a variety of projects, helping to develop designs from brief to completion, applying your technical knowledge, and contributing to a culture of collaboration and creativity. The ideal candidate is confident, self-organised, and thrives in a supportive team setting.

You’ll play a key role in taking projects from early brief through to developed design, with real ownership and the opportunity to work with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of project briefs and develop them into well-resolved design proposals aligned with the RIBA Plan of Work
  • Contribute to the delivery of pre-construction information and support the coordination of project outputs across design stages
  • Produce thoughtful, efficient design solutions with a strong emphasis on sustainability and buildability
  • Ensure designs meet UK construction regulations, British Standards, and relevant Codes of Practice
  • Advise on material selection, balancing performance, cost, and aesthetic considerations
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications using NBS, backed by current and reliable manufacturer information
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams through project reviews and coordination workshops
  • Support the preparation of information for planning, building regulations, and building safety submissions
  • Engage with statutory bodies, assist with applications, and contribute to written reports
  • Attend meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and specialist stakeholders
  • Work alongside the Project Lead to manage and monitor design risks
  • Maintain high standards of document control and project organisation

Skills and Experience

  • ARB registered Architect with a minimum of 5 years UK experience
  • Proven commercial and contractual awareness
  • You will ideally have cross sector experience but particularly in education sectors and multi-residential sectors.
  • Advanced knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other digital imaging tools
  • A minimum of two years of using Autodesk Revit
  • Routine use of Newforma Project Center for managing emails, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • 25 days holiday plus public holidays, increasing with service
  • Support for professional development and paid memberships
  • Health and wellbeing benefits, including private healthcare, life assurance, and bonus schemes
  • Flexible working perks such as Cycle2Work
