Job Description

[Employer hidden] is seeking an ambitious and inspiring Deputy Head (Academic) to join our Senior Team from September 2026.

This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the academic vision of a thriving Junior School, drive excellence in teaching and learning, and ensure every pupil achieves their full potential.

The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping the academic life of the Junior School, providing thoughtful and visible leadership across curriculum, assessment, pupil progress and reporting. They will work in close partnership with the Head of the Junior School and the Senior School Deputy Head (Academic), supporting Subject Leads, coordinating intervention and enrichment provision including SEND, More Able and EAL, and ensuring a coherent and well-aligned learning journey for pupils, particularly at the key transition from Year 6 to Year 7.

We are looking for an experienced and approachable academic leader who is passionate about high-quality teaching and learning and understands how children thrive academically. The successful candidate will bring confidence in using pupil progress information to inform next steps, alongside the ability to support, challenge and develop Subject Leads in a way that builds trust and shared ownership. They will combine strategic thinking with care and attention to detail, helping to sustain high standards while nurturing a collaborative, reflective and forward-looking Junior School culture.
