  • Proven experience using analytics to drive business decisions and answer complex commercial questions
  • Strong ability to structure analysis and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience presenting analytical findings to senior stakeholders
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
  • Strong data visualisation skills using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • Experience navigating complex or ambiguous datasets to derive actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with the ability to produce polished deliverables
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple analytical workstreams
  • Experience working with dbt or modern data transformation workflows

Data Analytics is central to how we build products, delight our customers and grow our business. Our Data Analysts are embedded across cross-functional teams spanning product, commercial and industry initiatives

They work closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Commercial teams and partner directly with Embedded Data Scientists and the wider data organisation

They have a high degree of autonomy and are empowered to drive the success of their teams by enabling evidence-based decision making

You will drive insight into customer behaviour, business outcomes and industry changes to ensure new ticketing models deliver value for customers, operators and the wider rail ecosystem

This role combines analytical rigour with strong storytelling and communication, as you will often translate complex analyses into clear insights for external partners

Data Analytics exists within the wider data organisation as part of the tech org and is complemented by Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence and Data Product Management

This growing and dynamic data team has an outsized impact on business outcomes and provides strong opportunities for growth and development for ambitious Data Analysts

As a Data Analyst in the Retail Innovation team, you will work closely with Data Scientists and a wide cross-functional business team to answer complex analytical questions and evaluate new initiatives shaping the future of rail travel

  • Analyse customer behaviour, revenue and usage patterns to evaluate new initiatives and industry programmes
  • Support the design and evaluation of trials and pilots to measure their impact on customers, operators and the wider rail ecosystem
  • Translate complex analyses into clear insights and recommendations for internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Produce high-quality analytical deliverables and presentations for senior stakeholders and external partners
  • Work closely with Data Scientists to structure analytical approaches and interpret results from large and complex datasets
  • Build dashboards and reports to help teams and partners monitor the impact of initiatives and new programmes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across data, product, commercial and external partners to ensure insights inform decision making
  • Help shape how we measure success for new ticketing approaches and industry innovations
