Business Development Manager

Company: Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS)

Location: Oban, Scotland

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full Time (37hrs, Monday to Friday)

Salary Range: £42,155 - £47,423 per annum

The Role

Leading on generation of commercial income for Scotland’s leading marine research institute. Lead and manage the commercial business development portfolio within SAMS Enterprise: to identify, pursue, win and deliver a range of commercially oriented projects for public and private sector clients.

This role will also feed into the Enterprise management team and Enterprise strategy, business plans and budgets.

The role is based on-site at our offices near Oban, with the requirement for travel across the UK and internationally. There is also scope for some flexible working over the working week Monday to Friday.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a proactive business generator, who will lead and manage the commercial business development portfolio within SAMS Enterprise: identifying new business opportunities in house, collaborating with our research/academic community, as well as develop new markets, growth areas, trends, clients and partners externally, including internationally.

You will build a good understanding of our products and services, attend meetings, events, exhibitions and conferences, creating interest and new business opportunities for SAMS Enterprise activities. You will meet with customers/clients face to face or online, understand the needs of your customers and foster a plan of meeting expectations.
