JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client, an oil and gas operator, is currently recruiting for Drilling & Completions Superintendent. Based in their office in Aberdeen, this is a project role and at this stage, approximate duration is 2 years. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement and will also require occasional offshore visits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure critical operational decisions are managed according to the Code of Conduct.
- Leads site-based team to ensure prevention and control of well control incidents and major risks related to HPHT drilling and wells activities
- Leads operational planning and execution with regards to good practices and optimised procedures during drilling & wells operations
- Ensures rig-based teams including Rig Contractor comply with Company Referential and company procedures
- Ensures application of management of change process
- Interfaces with Field Operations to ensure to ensure delivery of and compliance with SIMOPs Procedures
- Develop a culture within well site personnel including Rig Contractor in terms of well control preparedness, management of major risks and HSE related matters
- Manage equipment and associated logistics, in close coordination with the Senior Drilling and Completion Supervisor, Material Coordinator and the QA/QC inspector
- Ensure the Affiliate’s Performance Management Process is implemented at the well site, by implementing a Drilling & Wells Improvement Process with continuous improvement objective to optimize operational duration and cost
- Act as the operational focal point for Rig Contractor, drive excellence in safety and operational performance
- Act as the operational focal point for onshore SIMOPs interfaces
- Contribute to development of final rig equipment list
- Develop rig intake and acceptance procedure following RTA, including audit and inspections of tendered rigs during evaluation phase
- Develop rig specific Managed Pressure Drilling strategy/integration plan
- Coordinate with company logistics and Rig Contractor for rig mobilisation and demobilisation
- Coordinate and mobilise all service providers for new rig intake
- Develop HSE Bridging Document with Rig Contractor
- Develop SIMOPs procedure
- Assist with construction of BOCP documents
- Lead rig performance monitoring, set and track rig contractor KPIs
- Review and input operations programmes
- Supervise the implementation of operation programmes
- Optimise operations in relation with engineering, geology and reservoir entities but also with field ops
- Optimise rig equipment in collaboration with rig contractor
- Analyse failures or problems and recommend changes in programme, anticipate potential problems and plan alternative strategies
- Review and authorise work instructions
- Ensure or control daily and final reporting of wells or of operations
- Ensure the respect of safety and environmental rules, support companies CFR ambitions, proactively seek fuel/CO2e saving opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
- The ideal candidate should be educated to degree level or similar and demonstrate significant ability through experience and proven achievements in HPHT/HDJU drilling, completion and work-over operations with significant experience in offshore oil and gas drilling.
- Must be a drilling and wells professional who has gained the requisite expertise through extensive continuous training, and wide operational experience on offshore drilling rigs, logistics, simultaneous operations, coupled with a significant knowledge / experience of drilling related equipment, cost control and follow-up, environmental safety, risk assessment, equipment certification and a strong knowledge of the Group policies and relevant (FP) Company Rules.
- Experience of MPD and HPHT operations is a strong advantage.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
