Who You Are

To be successful in this role you’ll have strong expertise in Unix compute and/or storage platforms

You’ll have knowledge of traditional and modern on-premises architectures

Familiarity with monitoring and management tools

Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks and operational best practices

Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience handling high severity incidents

Strong communication skills, able to explain complex issues to non-technical audiences

Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments (AWS/Azure)

Working collaboratively with the wider Enterprise Platform team and business colleagues to create a great place to work

You’re committed to health, safety, wellbeing and the environment, and carry out your role in a manner that enables us to be a sustainable business – financially, environmentally and socially

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Clearance (SC), which will ordinarily require you to have British residency for the last five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll form part of the technical authority for our Enterprise services - spanning compute, storage, virtualisation, middleware, and core infrastructure components

You’ll guide technical decision making, shape engineering standards, and provide leadership to help platform teams deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that underpin our most critical systems

You’ll raise and monitor technical risks and support mitigation planning with Enterprise product managers and owners

You’ll collaborate closely with product teams, security, and operational teams to ensure our enterprise platforms remain stable, performant, and future ready

You’ll oversee the lifecycle of on prem infrastructure: provisioning, configuration, automation, monitoring, and optimisation

You’ll engage with business units to understand their service priorities and recovery readiness including regular testing regimes

You’ll work closely with our partner organisations to ensure services are consistently maintained.
