LOCATION: Bristol (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)

SALARY: £45000 - £50000 per annum

The Opportunity

A highly regarded, employee-owned engineering consultancy with a strong national reputation is looking to appoint a Senior Transport Planner to join its expanding South West team.

The Role

This is a key position within a growing Transport Planning team, offering exposure to a diverse and high-quality project portfolio. Sectors include higher education, renewable energy, commercial, retail, and residential developments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing multiple transport planning projects from inception to delivery
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders
  • Overseeing project finances, resource allocation, and quality assurance
  • Preparing and reviewing transport strategies, assessments, and supporting documentation
  • Contributing to expert witness work where required
  • Supporting senior leadership while developing your own business development capabilities
  • Mentoring and guiding junior team members

You'll work with both private and public sector clients, supporting planning applications, infrastructure strategies, and wider transport initiatives.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and commercial awareness.

Requirements include:

  • Chartered status (or working towards) in a relevant transport or planning discipline
  • Proven experience delivering Transport Strategies, Infrastructure Delivery Plans, and parking strategies
  • Strong project management skills, including resource planning and meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience liaising directly with clients and managing relationships
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Access and sustainable transport strategies
    • Planning frameworks and agreements (e.g. S106, S278)
    • Relevant policy and guidance such as the NPPF and DfT Transport Assessment guidelines
  • Proficiency in industry-standard modelling software (e.g. Junctions 10, LinSig)
  • Experience in junction design and traffic data analysis for Transport Assessments
