EC&I Technician

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Ltd are seeking an EC&I Technician to join our team on a fixed-term basis for up to two years, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. The purpose of this role is to deliver hands-on maintenance, fault-finding, calibration, and improvement activities across site assets, ensuring equipment performance, compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and minimal operational downtime. Working closely with operations, engineering, and contractors, the EC&I Technician will contribute to planned and reactive maintenance, small projects, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant reliability and support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Production Team Leader, key duties include:
  • Investigate faults on plant highlighted by the notification process in SAP.
  • Progress notifications into work orders.
  • Complete daily scheduled work, ensuring the highest standards of H&S are followed.
  • Ensure tooling/equipment used is in date inspection and suitable (PUWER, LOLER).
  • Co-ordinate third party contractors on site when required.
  • Find and implement improvements to plant (continuous improvement).
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of outages.
  • Be reactive to breakdowns when required.
  • Report progress of work as required.
  • Assist in the development of apprentices on site.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Background

  • Demonstrable experience gained within the power generation industry or similar heavy industry - essential.
  • Previous experience of contractor management - essential.
  • Proven experience in the overhaul, maintenance, and repair of valves and pumps within an industrial or manufacturing environment - essential.
  • Good numeracy, literacy and problem-solving skills - essential.
  • Demonstratable competence in use of IT/IS skills (e.g. MS Office) - essential.
  • Appreciation of the core components of a CCGT and how they operate - desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - essential.
  • Flexible and self-driven approach to training and personal development - essential.
  • Able to adapt quickly to new things, changes in the job and work environment and who enjoys being fully involved in ensuring the business is a success - essential.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised formal training programme or apprenticeship to achieve technician status (e.g. C&G parts I, II & III) - essential.
  • HNC/ONC in an engineering subject, plus relevant experience - desirable.
