Early Years Practitioner

An exciting opportunity to join a thriving nursery provision within St John’s Church School, Orton Goldhay. The role involves being a positive and supportive member of the team, creating a nurturing learning environment, modeling good practice, and supporting children's care, learning, and development through positive interaction. The ideal candidate is passionate about early years education, knowledgeable about the EYFS, organized, enthusiastic, and holds a Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification.

About the Nursery

St John’s Nursery provides a nurturing, fun and safe setting in which children are happy, secure and where they know they are valued and respected. Our aim is to provide learning which is exciting and an intrinsic part of their play and all that they enjoy.

The Early Years Practitioner Role

  • Be a positive and supportive member of the team, communicating and working together to create a positive and nurturing learning environment across our school in accordance with the new EYFS Statutory Framework.
  • Model good practice, ensure that the children are listened to, valued, nurtured, encouraged and enabled to explore the enriched environment and resources the nursery has to offer.
  • Be able to offer an appropriate level of support and stimulation for each individual child’s needs.
  • Be a proactive key worker, building appropriate relationships with their key children and their parents, carrying out suitable observations to support the planning and development of key children.
  • To support in their care, learning and development through strong positive interaction with a playful, enriching and creative approach.

We are looking for a practitioner who:

  • Driven and passionate about early years education, with a strong understanding of the importance of play in child development.
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or a commitment to developing this expertise.
  • Recent experience working in early years settings, showcasing practical skills and knowledge.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage time and responsibilities effectively.
  • Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a love for engaging with children both indoors and outdoors.
  • Warm, approachable, and professional, fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Holds a full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification in childcare.
