The Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join the lunchtime team in our friendly school. The role involves working closely with our catering manager to help the children of our school have an enjoyable and healthy lunchtime experience.

The role will see the successful candidate assisting in the kitchen and dining room as required (food service, dish and utensil washing, general cleaning and any other tasks associated with catering).

You will need to be able to work to a high standard with a positive attitude, be approachable, enthusiastic, flexible and committed to providing a quality service. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential elements of the post.

The successful candidate will work effectively in a busy and hectic environment, be a team player and be able to cook as required.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Prepare, cook and serve food ensuring a friendly customer service approach.
• Ensure that hygiene procedures and health and safety standards are maintained in both the kitchen and dining areas.
• To be responsible for maintaining accurate records of food supplies and freezer/fridge temperatures.
• Report to the Kitchen Manager any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
• Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence as required.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required with reasonable notice.

Hours and Salary

Hours: 30 hours per week (8.45am to 2.45pm Monday – Friday)

Term time only (to include occasional inset days and 1 evening per annum (paid as overtime).

Salary: Grade 5, point 7 (£13.69 per hour).

Contract Type: Permanent contract
