Location: Harston, Cambridgeshire

Job Type: Fixed term contract (January 2026 - August 2026)

Work Type: Part-time (0.27 FTE)

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an excellent and inspirational music teacher to deliver high quality music lessons to all classes across the school during teachers’ PPA time. We are a four-class village primary school to the South of Cambridge with a strong musical tradition and are seeking to replace our current music specialist who is moving out of the area after 18 years at the school. Parents and children have high expectations of music and we are fortunate to have a dedicated music room, a wide range of peripatetic instrumental teachers who visit the school, a thriving school choir and strong links with professional musicians. Our choir regularly perform at West Road concert Hall and have sung at the Royal Albert Hall with the Armenico Consort. We would like to hear from exceptional candidates, who ideally already have experience at working in a primary school, to continue to build upon the many strengths of the school.

There is the possibility of combining the teaching post with some private instrumental tuition during the day if desired.

We are looking for someone who

  • is committed to providing high quality learning and teaching and expects the best from every child
  • has excellent communication skills, is reflective and committed to their own professional development
  • has a passion for music and wants to inspire others
  • who is willing to lead an extracurricular music activity (Choir or instrumental ensemble) and co-ordinate the work of the peripatetic music teachers
  • is able to work both independently and as part of a team

We can offer you:

  • a welcoming community with hard working staff and enthusiastic children, who love to learn
  • a commitment to developing the whole curriculum- we have been awarded Arts Mark silver and all our Year 6 children currently take the Bronze Arts Award
  • a school that is successful, ambitious and well supported by the Governors, Community and Parents/Carers
  • a commitment to your professional development
