Job Details

  • Salary: National Joint Pay Scale: Level 2 point 5/6
  • Contract Type: 18.75 hours per week, term-time only, working with a named child, and ending when the child leaves the school
  • Reporting to: Class Teacher and Headteacher/SENCO
  • Responsible for: Supporting the learning of an EYFS child with Willi-Prader Syndrome.

Duties and Responsibilities

The child you will be supporting has a range of needs associated with Willi-Prader Syndrome, and will require support with:

  • Language and communication skills
  • Shared and focused attention
  • Developing early learning skills
  • Emotional regulation
  • Self-help skills and independence

We are looking for a TA who:

  • ideally has experience of working with a non-verbal child and is familiar with Makaton
  • can adapt their communication style to respond to a child’s individual needs
  • is able to build positive relationships, promoting high self-esteem and independence
  • is able to support the child in managing emotional outbursts and aggression, which can be triggered by food
  • can support the child with their social, emotional and mental health needs, escalating concerns where appropriate
  • promotes high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school’s behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention
  • can work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers and professionals to achieve the desired progress against the objectives in the child’s EHCP
  • will assist with the development and delivery of individual education and support plans
  • will assist with playtime and lunchtime supervision
  • will work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies
  • will promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school
