About the Role

We’re looking for a dynamic, engaging and motivated practitioner to join our new School-Aged Health Improvement and Prevention Service, delivering targeted health promotion in schools and community settings across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. As a Youth Health Improvement Practitioner, you’ll be on the frontline of public health for young people, supporting delivery on the below key initiatives:

  • Vaping, through the delivery of Catch Your Breath workshops
  • Sexual Health and the C-Card Scheme
  • STI information, awareness and testing

You may also deliver other sessions as agreed with schools and community settings. These may include:

  • Tobacco and smoking
  • Physical activity and the effects of inactivity
  • Healthy Eating

You’ll work directly with students, school staff and community stakeholders to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.

What we’re looking for

  • A relevant qualification in public health, education, youth work or a related area
  • Experience working in schools or youth settings
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence delivering sessions
  • A passion for empowering young people and promoting health equity
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, the PSHE/RSE curriculum, and health inequalities
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, work flexibly and travel across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire
