Aniket's Perspective
What sparked your transition from architecture to lighting, and how does it shape your creative process?
My training in architecture shaped how I understand light. I was influenced by architects like Ando, Holl, and Correa, whose work revealed light not as an accessory, but as a material in its own right, capable of shaping space, emotion, and memory. That fascination matured into a deeper understanding of light’s power. I’ve come to see light as a mediator between architecture and human experience, revealing form, guiding movement, and allowing space to breathe. The dialogue between light and shadow introduces rhythm and theatre, but also restraint. This is why my approach remains inherently architectural. I believe meaningful lighting is inseparable from structure, carefully integrated from concept to realization.
You’ve worked alongside world-renowned architects on global projects. What have you learned about effective collaboration, and what role does lighting play within large-scale, multidisciplinary teams?
Working with renowned architects has been humbling and formative. It’s shown me the value of vision and commitment to design intent. The best collaborators are relentless in pursuing quality and understand lighting is integral to realising that vision. Collaboration begins with a pragmatic framework and is sustained through communication. Lighting plays a strategic role, bridging architecture, interiors, landscape, engineering, and user experience to shape a coherent outcome.
What excites you most about joining Equation?
